WAYNESBORO — A 65-year-old woman was injured early this morning when she was hit by a car while in a crosswalk on South Potomac Street.

Waynesboro police said the woman, who was not identified in a news release, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The accident happened at 4:42 a.m. while the woman was crossing in a crosswalk at the intersection of Potomac and West Main Street. A 27-year-old man was traveling west on West Main when he turned left onto Potomac and hit the woman, police said.

Police did not provide the names of either the driver or victim.

The victim was taken to Meritus Medical Center for treatment of the non-life threatening injury.

The police investigation into the incident is continuing, according to police.
