Franklin County’s Director of Emergency Services John Thierwechter moves to a new role this month as the county’s assistant administrator.
County commissioners announced Thierwechter’s role switch this week.
“John’s professional experience and leadership are an excellent match for the needs of this position. We are looking forward to working with him in this new role,” said Commissioner Chairman Dave Keller.
Thierwechter‘s county employment began in 2016 when he was hired to head its Emergency Services department.
He is a 25-year Pennsylvania State Police veteran. During that time, he served as a patrol trooper, patrol/criminal investigation supervisor, and as Chambersburg Station Commander for 5 years.
During his PSP career, he was assigned twice as the acting Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Justice Network (J-Net).
Thierwechter believes his years working in the county will help him positively impact both county employees and local citizens.
He is a Shippensburg University graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
Thierwechter begins his duties as Assistant County Administrator on February 20, 2020.
