Shippensburg University junior guard Jake Biss (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.
Biss averaged 22.5 points per game. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game as the Raiders extended their winning streak to nine games with wins over Kutztown and Lock Haven. He shot 48.6 percent from the field, including 50 percent (7-14) from three-point range.
In the win over Kutztown, Biss led all players with 27 points. He finished 10-of-19 from the field including 5-of-7 from three-point range. Biss tied a career high with his five three-pointers, and achieved his fifth 20-point game of the season. He also had three assists and two steals on the night.
In the win at Lock Haven, Biss had 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. He scored SU’s first nine points of the second half, going 4-of-5 from the field in the first four minutes after halftime.
Biss earns the honor for the second time this season (Jan. 7). He is one of three Raiders to receive the PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Week award, joining John Castello (co-Athlete of the Week) on Dec. 9 and Luke Nedrow on Dec. 23.
