Area fire and police first responders are always ready to respond to emergencies, even if they come in at the most inappropriate times.

So it was for Franklin Fire Company, who got calls Saturday as members celebrated their 50th annual banquet.

With the Company’s 50th annual banquet in full swing, box 44-02 was alerted for “smoke in the attic”!

Units arrived finding smoke throughout the attic and having to search for the cause. Firefighters on the scene determined a faulty wiring issue and blown insulation in the attic was to blame. Crews took time to make sure the fire did not spread and was contained to the area of origin.

Crews operated for 1 hour ensuring the fire did not spread in the blown-in insulation.

Earlier in the day, Rescue Squad 41, Truck 42 & SU-44 responded to 916 Norland Ave (Jennings Auto) for a building fire.

SU-44 was already on Norland Ave when the tones dropped. First responders arrived during dispatch to investigate a report that a single story large commercial building had smoke showing from the car garage.

The crew deployed the rear, finding an auto that was on fire. The flames had already been extinguished by building staff. Crews flowed water to ensure the fire was out.
