Betty J. Crider, 71, of Newville, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, January 18, 2020, at UPMC Carlisle.

She was born on April 18, 1948, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late John A. and Alice (Dyarman) Crider.

Betty worked as an accountant for Ahold USA, Carlisle, for over ten years, retiring in 2015.  She attended the Oakville U.M.C., and served as a worship service lay leader, Sunday School teacher, and in the church nursery.  In her free time, Betty enjoyed learning to play guitar, bird watching, and caring for her houseplants.

She is survived by one sister, Darlene Bodkins and husband William, Jr., of Shippensburg; one niece; five nephews; four great nieces; four great nephews; and many aunts and uncles.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Grimes and Joyce Nickey.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, January 27, 2020, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg.  Pastor John Culbertson will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.  Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Monday, at the funeral home.
