Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Women’s Basketball League named Shippensburg University junior guard Ariel Jones Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Jones averaged a double-double with 19.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game this week. SU lost a heartbreaker at Jefferson on Tuesday before defeating Holy Family on Sunday. Jones entered the week with two career double-doubles, and equaled that total with her performances in the last two games.
At Jefferson, Jones came off the bench and scored a team-high 24 points, making a pair of three-pointers and sinking 8-of-9 at the free-throw line. Jones also led all players with 12 rebounds, matching a career high, and had a season-high three assists.
Against Holy Family, Jones led Shippensburg with 15 points, including a 9-of-11 rate at the free-throw line. She finished with 10 rebounds, marking her second straight double-double with points and rebounds. She also equaled her season high with three assists.
It is the second time this season (Nov. 11, Dec. 2) and the seventh time in Jones’ career that she has been named the PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Week.
