CHAMBERSBURG — Firefighters brought a fire in the trailer of a tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 81 under control quickly Friday night.

The fire started as the truck neared the interstate’s Walker Road exit (17) at about 9 p.m.

Firefighters from Franklin Fire Company Station 4 were on the scene by 9:04 p.m. and had the fire out within 10 minutes.

The Franklin’s Engine 45, Engine 43 and Squad 41 responded to the fire call.

Units from Fayetteville’s Company 7 and West Shore Company 13 assisted at the scene.

Pennsylvania State Police was also on the scene. A spokesperson at the Chambersburg barracks said a news release had not been filed about the incident as of Saturday morning.
