KUTZTOWN — Chambersburg’s Trojan Cross Country teams had a mixed day last week at the Kutztown Invitational. The varsity boys struggled while the varsity girls flourished.

Varsity Boys Results:

  • Junior Brayden Boyd finished in 18th place with a time of 16:37.
  • Sophomore Billy Prentice finished in 64th place with a time of 17:35.
  • Senior Joe Corwell finished in 73rd place with a time of 17:46.
  • Senior Justin Maxwell finished in 78th place with a time of 17:55.
  • Sophomore Ben Colli finished in 88th place with a time of 18:07.
  • Junior Dakota Strait finished in 101st place with a time of 18:20.
  • Sophomore Zack Yourkavitch finished in 104th place with a time of 18:27.

This placed the Chambersburg Varsity Boys at 11th overall.

Varsity girls results

The varsity girls dominated their race.

  • In 8th overall came freshman Camryn Kiser with a time of 19:26.
  • Junior Maddie Kinton in 14th place with a time of 20:01.
  • Sophomore Olivia Rieck in 19th place with a time of 20:05. J
  • Junior Keira Whitehead came in 20th place also with a time of 20:05.
  • Freshman Abby Bricker finishing in 59th place with a time of 21:51. Sophomore Amelya Mauriello in 61st place with a time of 21:55.

This netted the Chambersburg Varsity Girls 2nd overall place at the invitational.

Junior Varsity Boys results:

The junior varsity boys had a solid race. The top five goes as follows:

  • Senior Ian Brechbiel in 9th place with a time of 18:28.
  • Sophomore Lane Kuhns in 44th place with a time of 19:06.
  • Junior Levi Funk in 68th place with a time of 19:37.
  • Sophomore Tadgh Pooler in 88th place with a time of 19:57.
  • Junior Will Sharrar in 90th place also with a time of 19:57.

This also netted the JV team an 11th place finish.

Junior Varsity Girls Results

The junior varsity girls also had a solid race.

  • Freshman Emma Armstrong finished in 10th place with a time of 22:25.
  • Sophomore Emma Grove took 14th place with a time of 22:40.
  • Sophomore Ally List in 19th place with a time of 23:03.
  • Senior Camy Ellis in 23rd place with a time 23:15.
  • Sophomore Emilia Alleman in 26th place with a time of 23:23.


The next race for the Chambersburg Cross Country Team is a tri-meet at Central Dauphin against both Central Dauphin and State College on September 10th.
