CHAMBERSBURG (Aug. 19, 2019) — On Wednesday, September 18, 2019, Chief Ron Camacho will host a town hall-style meeting at 6 p.m. at the Chambersburg Recreation Center, 235 S. Third Street.

All residents, business owners and citizens are invited and welcome to attend.

The purpose of this town hall meeting is for the Chief of Police to present an overview of the department and to hear directly from members of the public who would like to share their public safety concerns.


ACCIDENT: A juvenile was taken to Chambersburg Hospital Monday with minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle Monday morning.

The accident happened in the 400 block of North Second Street. Police said the child was crossing the street and was not in a crosswalk or other marked pedestrian crossing.  The vehicle was not speeding, according to police. The driver stopped, rendered aid to the juvenile and contacted Emergency Services. 

The driver remained on scene and the juvenile was transported to the Chambersburg Hospital with minor injuries.

Pedestrians are reminded to use provided Crosswalks and other marked Pedestrian Crossings when crossing roadways.   With school starting this week, drivers are reminded to be watchful of additional pedestrian traffic before and after school.


DOMESTIC ASSAULT: James McCrea, 42, of Chambersburg, has been charged with simple assault as the result of a domestic dispute Sunday. Police allege that he punched a female victim in the face, causing injury to her lips and teeth.

He was arraigned on the misdemeanor charge today by Magisterial District Judge T.R. Williams, who set bail at $5,000. He was in Franklin County Jail Monday, unable to post bail.

His preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 27 in Franklin County’s Magisterial District Central Court.


HARASSMENT: Chambersburg Police are investigating a report that two unknown males called TGIFriday’s restaurant non-stop for about two or three hours Saturday, making threats and lewd comments to employees who answered the phone.

Anyone with information about the calls or the identity of the callers is asked to intact Chambersburg Police Department at 717-264-4131.
