FRANKLIN COUNTY — Police departments across the county report a variety of incidents investigated to date this month.

Chambersburg Police Department

Lost Purse: On July 3 Wanda Fickes came to Chambersburg Police Department to report her wallet was lost in the area of 421 Grant Street the day before.

1he described the purse as being a “Vera Bradley”, blue in color.  Contained in the wallet were numerous cards, including a Pennsylvania ID and some cash. 

Anyone with information about the lost wallet is asked to contact the Chambersburg Police Department at 717-264-4131 or return the wallet to the Chambersburg Police Station at 116 S. Second St.

Disorderly Conduct: Chambersburg Police Department units responded to a reported accident involving a pedestrian on July 8. After further investigation, it was revealed to be a verbal argument between John Mercier, 35, and another individual that ended with Mercier jumping on the hood of a vehicle as it was being driven by Thomas Modzelewski, 23.

Both individuals were issued citations for one count of Disorderly Conduct for their roles in the altercation. 


Waynesboro Police Department

Theft: Anastasia L. Stover, 22, of Baltimore, Maryland, was arrested June 17 by Waynesboro Police Department and charged with retail theft. The charge is in connection with an incident in which police received a report of an employee stealing items from a South Potomac Street business on August 31, 2018 at 8:16 a.m.


Summaries and Juvenile Cases: Harold E. Mitchem, Waynesboro, was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after Waynesboro Police Department received a report of an intoxicated subject on May 27 at 2:45 p.m. on East Fifth Street.  

Emily N. Palmerchuck, Chambersburg, was cited for accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property after a hit and run was reported on June 9 at 4:51 p.m. on North Potomac Street.  

Brittany C. Romero, Waynesboro, was cited for harassment after a domestic occurred on June 10 at 8:45 p.m. on W. King Street.  

A 16-year-old female was cited for the borough’s curfew ordinance after a traffic stop was conducted on July 6 at 12:45 a.m. on North Potomac Street.


Hit and Run: Derek Wyatt Wible, 30, Waynesboro, was charged with one count of accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property after a hit and run was reported on June 26 at 3:31 p.m. on East Main Street.


Harassment: Jacqueline Rae Smith, 27, Waynesboro, was charged with two counts of harassment and one count each of simple assault and disorderly conduct after an assault was reported to Waynesboro Police Department on July 1 at 6:05 p.m. on Foulger Street. 


Assault: Rachel Lea Dailey, 38, Waynesboro, was charged with one count each of simple assault, criminal mischief and intimidation of witnesses or victims after a domestic violence incident was reported on June 25 at 9 p.m. on East North Street.


Drugs: Zachary Eugene Miller, 22, Waynesboro, was charged with one count each of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police contact was made on June 23 at 10:44 a.m. on Ridge Avenue.


DUI: Brandon Wallace Tavenner, 22, Blue Ridge Summit, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance after a traffic stop was conducted on June 15 at 1:55 a.m. on West Main Street.


DUI Crash: Edwin Antonio Juarez, 25, Hagerstown, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance after a single-vehicle accident occurred on June 12 at 2:26 a.m. on Clayton Avenue.


Criminal Trespass: Christian Isaiah McCartney, 19, Hagerstown, was charged with one count of criminal trespass after a domestic was reported on June 8 at 8:10 p.m. on Hawbaker Avenue.


DUI: Ryan Christopher Staley, 50, Waynesboro, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance after a traffic stop was conducted on June 7 at 2:45 a.m. on East Main Street.


DUI: Jason Michael Paris, 33, Hagerstown, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance and one count of drivers required to be licensed after police contact was made on June 5 at 1:15 a.m. on South Potomac Street.


Drugs: Logan Brittany McCleary, 30, Waynesboro, has been charged with one count each of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after an incident occurred on May 31 at 4:08 p.m. on Pratt Court. Source: 


DUI: Harlan Hugh Hopkins, 61, Waynesboro, has been charged with one count each of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance and driving while operating privilege is suspended/revoked after a vehicle accident was reported on May 31 at 5:45 p.m. on South Church Street.


Drugs: Marcus Deyshawn Miller, 23, Greencastle, was charged with one count of possession of a small amount of marijuana after a report was made on March 27 at 9:12 p.m. on Foulger Street.


Shippensburg Police Department

Found: A cell phone, found at the Sheetz on East King Street in Shippensburg, was turned in to Shippensburg Police Department on Tuesday, July 9th. The cell phone is black. The owner may claim the phone at the police department.
