The Phoenix offense was held in check through the first four innings but in the fifth inning they got things going with back-to-back walks. Jessica Kosheba (Marietta, Pa., Donegal) (Marietta, Pa., Donegal), who was on second, advanced to third on an error by the catcher and was able to score after Jennifer Cail (Lisle, IL, Lisle) singled to left field to tie the game at one.

Two batters later, Chloe Perrin (Milton, Pa., Milton) drew a bases loaded walk that scored the second run for the Phoenix to put them ahead 2-1.

Megan Potter (Hagerstown, Md., South Hagerstown), fresh off of a perfect game performance on Wednesday, continued her dominant ways by holding the Giants to just one hit in the final three innings. Potter’s pitching helped propel the Phoenix to a 2-1 victory in game one.

Jessica Kosheba got things rolling with a single to center that was followed up by Alison Shockey (Greencastle, Pa., Greencastle-Antrim) reaching base on an error. Both Phoenix baserunners advanced on a wild pitch and were brought home by Jennifer Cail who singled up the middle.

The Giants cut their deficit in half later on in the bottom of the second with an RBI double to left.

With the score sitting at 2-1 heading to the top of the fifth, the Phoenix looked to add some insurance runs to pull away from the Giants.

With runners on first and second, Jennifer Cail continued to stay hot at the plate, bringing home one run with a double down the left field line. The next batter, Meghan Bradley singled through the left side of the infield to knock in another run, as Wilson took a 4-1 lead.

Two batters later, Jenna Carty (Chambersburg, Pa., Greencastle-Antrim) singled to right field that scored two runs to push the Phoenix ahead 6-1.
