CHAMBERSBURG – Eight recent high-school graduates with plans to pursue careers in health care were awarded the Medical Staff Scholarship Award at the annual Chambersburg Hospital and Waynesboro Hospital medical staff meeting.
Alyssa Rotz is a 2019 graduate of Fannett-Metal High school, where she achieved a 3.79 GPA. She will attend Slippery Rock University in the fall with plans to pursue a degree in physical therapy.
Amelia McDowell will attend Franklin and Marshall College this fall to study biochemistry and biomathematics. She is a recent graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School where she earned a 5.01 GPA. Amelia plans to go into the medical research field.
Kristen Louder is a 2019 graduate of James Buchanan High School where she achieved a 4.23 GPA. She will attend Messiah College where she plans to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Kristen aspires to be a labor and delivery nurse.
Akhila Kunuthuru will attend Virginia Commonwealth University this fall to study chemistry. She is a 2019 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School where she achieved a 4.33 GPA. Akhila plans to become a physician.
Caeley Etter is currently studying nursing at Wilson College where she has a 3.8 GPA. She is a 2017 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. Caeley plans to be a registered flight nurse.
Rebekah Cordell plans to pursue a molecular biology degree at Messiah College. She is a 2019 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School, where she achieved a 4.186 GPA. Rebekah’s future goal is to become a pediatrician.
Micaela Champion is currently studying biochemistry and English at McDaniel College where she has a 3.873 GPA. Micaela is a 2018 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. Her future goal is to become a pediatric oncologist.
Abriana Cain is studying nutrition at Penn State University. She has achieved a 3.92 GPA. She is a 2016 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.
