NEWPORTMarysville Borough Manager Scott Weaver has been charged with bribery and theft for allegedly buying unneeded products for the borough and keeping gift cards that were included with the purchase for his personal use.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Weaver allegedly received gift cards to Bass Pro Shops after making purchases at Nationwide Chemical Products, Coral Springs, Florida.

Products were purchased for borough use, however, they were requested by the users and were ordered in excess.

Weaver kept the gift cards he had received from Nationwide Chemical Products after the invoices were paid and used the gift cards making purchases that directly benefited himself, police said.

Gift Cards used by Weaver were linked directly to Nationwide Chemical Products purchases, police said. Weaver has been charged with Commercial Bribery and Breach of Duty to Act Disinterestedly, Theft by Unlawful Taking under PA Title 18, and Restricted Activities (corruption) under PA Title 65.

The commercial bribery and breach of duty charges are felonies. The other two charges are misdemeanors.

He will have a preliminary hearing in Perry County before Magisterial District Judge Nancy Lee Edie on May 24.
