CHAMBERSBURG— A local man arrested last fall on drug delivery charges is now also facing attempted homicide charges in a shooting in which shots were fired into a Birch Street home.
Kimoli D. Martin, 22, Chambersburg, was charged Friday with five counts each of criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering others. and seven counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure.
The charges came more than six months after myltiple shots were fired into a Birch Street home last September.
Two adults and three young children were at the home at the time.
Although Martin became a suspect in the September 24 shooting within a week, police needed lab analysis to link a gun confiscated from him when he was arrested a few days later on drug related charges.
That firearm was tested for DNA and it was compared to shell casings found at the Birch Street shooting.
Chambersburg police said results from those tests came back Friday, showing the gun seized in the drug case was the same gun that fired the shell casings left on Birch Street.
Martin’s bail had been set at $1 million in te dug case. Magisterial District Judge Glenn Manns ordered him held without bail in the new charges.
A preliminary hearing is set for April 16 on the new charges. He is scheduled for trial on the 2018 drug charges.
