For 28 years, Greencastle‘s annual Heritage Christmas celebration has put area residents in the holiday spirit with music, lights and holiday cheer.
This year is no exception with seasonal favorites and entertainment beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6 with performers in the Square. Listen to the St. Maria Goretti Choir followed by the Calvary Mennonite Choir and vocalist Shayne Carmack singing Christmas favorites.
At the same time, entertainers will take the stage in The Life Center, 35 N. Carlisle St. Entertainment includes Teresa Day and her popular drum circle followed by The Creative Arts Team and Eric McDonald with a magic show.
Other activities include gingerbread men cookie decorating, childrens’ crafts and face painting in The Life Center.
Around the Square community groups will offer cookies, hot drinks, soups, hot dogs and s’mores over an open fire.
Favorite Christmas characters, including Apple Annie, the Christmas Angel, snowmen and Bellsnickles will mingle with the crowd. Uncle Bean also entertains That evening with his balloon twisting.
Santa, Horse and Buggy Rides
Santa is available for photos, free of charge, in Off-Center properties.
Visitors can catch horse & wagon rides every 15 minutes from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person with children under two, riding on a lap free of charge. To be sure you have a seat, advance purchase is recommended.
The 2019 Heritage Christmas ornament, this year commemorating the Horse & Wagon Ride, will be available at the Holiday House for $20, tax included.
Tickets for the annual Home Tour, scheduled for Sunday, December 8, will also be available for $15; tickets are $20 on the day of the tour.
