Aug 10: Tour the Historic Brown’s Mill School

Franklin County Historical Society will open Brown's Mill School for tours on July 6 and 7 and August 10 and 11.

Franklin County Historical Society will open Brown’s Mill School for tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 6 and 7 and August 10 and 11.

Unlike other years, these will be the only weekends available without an appointment, so plan to visit!

Director Ann Hull and Vice President Sue Burkey will give guided tours of the historic school, open 1836-1921, and the Brown’s Mill Cemetery, located behind the school.

Adult tours are $3, children are free.

Decorated and plain slate tiles from the roof of the school will also be available for sale.

On August 10 and 11, all admission proceeds will be split 50/50 with Greencastle Old Home Week.

The school is located at the intersection of Angle and Brown’s Mill Roads in Kauffman Station. From Rt. 11, turn onto Kauffman Road East, then merge onto Brown’s Mill Road.
