Chambersburg Area Senior High School (CASHS) teacher Commander Bruce Apgar was recently recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of the American Legion as the 2019 Pennsylvania Educator of the Year.

Apgar was presented this award at a ceremony on July 14th during the annual PA American Legion Convention.

Apgar was selected from a competitive field of nominees by the American Legion Children and Youth Committee.

Apgar is a retired Naval Officer serving CASHS as the Senior Naval Science Instructor in the Naval Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (NJROTC) Program, a Citizenship Development Program of the Chambersburg Area School District.
