CHAMBERSBURG (OCT. 10, 2019) — Two Maryland men are being held in Franklin County Jail without bail on attempted homicide charges.

Samuel Thorne, 22, and Rayshard Young, 21, both of Frederick, MD, face charges that they tried to kill two Pennsylvania State Police troopers during a traffic stop.

The troopers initiated the stop on Wayne Avenue in the south end of town at 3 a.m. Wednesday, but instead of stopping, Thorne — who was driving — sped north through town with the troopers in pursuit, lights flashing and sirens going.

In the 700 block of Philadelphia Avenue on the north side of town, Thorne rammed the police cruiser, disabling the car he was driving.
